The Canvas Sleep System for Motorcycle Touring

British-made motorcycle camping gear

Camp faster. Pack with less fuss. Sleep wherever the road ends.

The Wynnchester Adventurer is a British-made canvas bedroll designed for motorcycle touring, overnight rallies and solo road trips. It combines your ground shelter and sleeping space in one rugged system that can be unrolled in minutes and packed away with your bedding still inside.

Built for Riders Who Move Camp Every Day

After a long day on the road, the last thing most riders want is a complicated shelter with multiple poles, a separate groundsheet and loose pieces of kit.

The Adventurer Bedroll gives motorcycle tourers a simpler alternative: unstrap it from the bike, unroll it, prepare the hood and settle in. When it is time to move, your bedding can remain inside while the system is rolled and secured for transport.

  • Quick to deploy after a long day of riding
  • Rolls together with your bedding inside
  • Low-profile shelter for discreet solo camps
  • Rugged canvas construction for repeated touring use
  • Integrated head protection and mosquito mesh
  • No separate groundsheet required for normal use
  • Suitable for road touring, adventure riding and rally camping

One Sleep System. Fewer Separate Pieces.

A conventional motorcycle camping setup may involve a tent, tent poles, pegs, a groundsheet, a sleeping mat, a sleeping bag and several separate storage bags.

The Adventurer is designed to simplify that routine. Your bedding can be placed inside the bedroll and rolled together, reducing the number of separate items you need to unpack and repack at every stop.

It is particularly suited to riders who value durability, straightforward setup and traditional canvas construction over the lowest possible packed weight.

From Bike to Bed in Minutes

1. Remove it from the motorcycle

Unfasten the rolled bedroll from your luggage rack, pillion seat or pannier setup.

2. Choose your sleeping position

Find level ground where possible and clear away sharp stones, branches and standing water.

3. Unroll the bedroll

Open the canvas sleep system and arrange your mattress and bedding. These can remain inside between overnight stops.

4. Prepare the head section

Use the supplied pre-curved pole to support the hood and create protected space around your head.

5. Sleep, roll and move on

In the morning, leave your bedding inside, roll the system securely and attach it back to the bike.

How Can It Be Carried on a Motorcycle?

The packed bedroll can be carried in several ways depending on the motorcycle, luggage system and weight distribution.

  • Across a rear luggage rack
  • Across the pillion seat
  • Above hard or soft panniers
  • Secured lengthways on a suitable luggage platform
  • Inside a larger overland luggage system

Always use suitable motorcycle luggage straps and ensure the bedroll cannot move, contact the exhaust, interfere with the rear wheel or obstruct lights and registration plates. Check the load after the first few miles and during fuel stops.

Bedroll or Motorcycle Tent?

The Adventurer is not intended to replace every type of tent. It offers a different style of motorcycle camping.

Consideration Wynnchester Adventurer Small Motorcycle Tent
Setup Simple and fast Usually requires poles, pegs and pitching
Bedding Can remain inside when rolled Usually packed separately
Groundsheet Integrated canvas base Built in or separate, depending on the tent
Standing or changing room No Limited, but usually more than a bedroll
Materials Heavy-duty canvas Usually lightweight synthetic fabric
Best suited to Fast solo stops and repeated touring use Longer camps or riders wanting enclosed living space
Pack weight Heavier than ultralight shelters Often lighter

Who Is It Best For?

The Adventurer is well suited to:

  • Solo motorcycle tourers
  • Adventure-bike and scrambler riders
  • Classic motorcycle travellers
  • Riders moving to a new camp each day
  • Motorcycle rallies and weekend events
  • Overland riders carrying robust luggage systems
  • Campers who prefer canvas to lightweight synthetic materials

Who May Prefer a Tent?

The Adventurer may not be the right choice if your priority is ultralight luggage, standing room, a large vestibule or enclosed space for changing and storing riding equipment.

It is designed for riders who value straightforward deployment, rugged materials and a compact sleeping arrangement more than tent-style living space.

Made for Riders, Not Just Campers

Wynnchester is as much about the culture of travelling light, stopping well and sleeping properly as it is about equipment. The Adventurer appeals to riders who care about real gear, beautiful objects and traditional outdoor living.

Made for Repeated Use

The Adventurer is made in Britain from heavy-duty canvas selected for durability, breathability and repeated outdoor use.

Unlike many lightweight shelters, canvas feels substantial, is quieter in wind and is better suited to riders who expect their equipment to be used regularly rather than saved for occasional summer weekends.

As with all outdoor equipment, appropriate care, drying and storage will extend its working life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the bedding stay inside when the bedroll is packed?

Yes. One of the main benefits of the system is that suitable bedding can remain inside when the bedroll is rolled. The final packed size and weight will depend on the mattress, sleeping bag or blankets you use.

Will it fit on every motorcycle?

Motorcycle luggage layouts vary considerably. Check the current rolled dimensions against your available rack, pillion seat or pannier space before ordering. The bedroll must be secured away from the exhaust, rear wheel and moving components.

Does it come with motorcycle straps?

The bedroll includes its own carry straps, but you should use suitable load-rated motorcycle luggage straps to secure it safely to the bike.

Is it completely waterproof?

The canvas is designed for outdoor use and protection from normal conditions, but no fabric sleep system should be treated as invulnerable to prolonged exposure, pooling water or extreme weather. Careful site selection and a tarp are recommended during sustained or heavy rain.

Do I need a separate groundsheet?

The bedroll is designed to be used directly on suitable ground without a separate groundsheet. Always clear away sharp objects and avoid standing water or badly drained ground.

Is it suitable for winter touring?

The canvas bedroll itself does not provide all of your insulation. Cold-weather suitability depends on the mattress, sleeping bag, liner, clothing and conditions.

Is it suitable for ultralight motorcycle travel?

Probably not. The Adventurer prioritises rugged canvas construction, comfort and durability over minimum weight.

How should I store it after a wet trip?

Open and dry the bedroll thoroughly before long-term storage. Never leave damp canvas or bedding tightly rolled for an extended period.

The Atmosphere of a Good Stop

The best motorcycle camps are often the simplest: a bike, a fire, a place to sleep and a reason to stay a little longer.
